Trainee as DevOps Engineer

To strengthen our DevOps team, we are looking for a trainee DevOps engineer to start in January 2026. Our trainee program for aspiring DevOps engineers provides you with all the practical knowledge you need to work as an infrastructure and operations expert in a highly condensed 4-6 month program.

Practice-Oriented Training

Initially, you will practice what you've learned on trial projects. Later, you will independently work on real projects.

Fair Trainee salary

With our trainee program, we sponsor your education because you will not yet be working on our projects at the beginning. To allow you to focus on learning during the trainee program, you will receive a salary of €3000 per month.

Living and Working in Augsburg

Even as a trainee, you will already benefit from our home office policy, but you will still spend most of your time working in our office. Augsburg is a vibrant university city with a great mix of urban life, abundant nature, and reasonable living costs.

Mentoring

At the beginning of the program, you will be assigned an experienced mentor who will accompany, support, and challenge you throughout the curriculum.

Technology stack

What you will learn with us

We teach you everything you need to know as a DevOps engineer. Among other things, we focus on the following tools and skills: Infrastructure as Code, container infrastructure, logging and monitoring, cloud environments such as AWS, agile processes, CI & CD, Git, and Linux.

Your profile

What you bring to the table

You have programming experience in at least one scripting language, good Linux skills, and an understanding of IP, TCP, UDP, DNS, and HTTP.
You already have some experience in a common cloud environment such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
You are interested in the topics covered in the curriculum and the technical focus.
You have the stamina to master the challenging (but achievable) trainee program.
You are interested in taking on a permanent position as a DevOps Cloud Engineer (m/f/d) with us after completing the trainee program.

FAQs about the DevOps trainee program

The trainee program can be combined with a bachelor's or master's thesis. After the first few weeks of training, we will work with you to find an exciting topic in our technology field and coordinate the collaboration with your university. makandra GmbH has worked closely with universities since its founding. Many employees started their careers with us by successfully completing their thesis.

The trainee program is tailored to your learning speed and prior knowledge. We evaluate your progress together and adjust the timeframe if necessary. Depending on your level of knowledge, the program usually lasts 4-6 months.
